7 Ways to get in Shape and Stay That Way

Here we are in the 21st Century and the biggest threat to our health in the developed world is obesity. Of course we don't have to be clinically obese to be putting our health at risk, that happens as soon as we start getting overweight and the risk increases the heavier we get. What exactly are the risks?

There are many risks to our health from being overweight, these include but are not limited to:

1. Increased Risk of Heart Disease
2. Type 2 Diabetes
3. Sleep Apnea
4. Osteoarthritis
5. Gall Bladder
6. Liver Disease
7. Several Cancers
8. And many more

In addition limited mobility can affect our health, lifestyle and relationships. Luckily help is available at The Weight Loss Files Online

We all know how easy it is to gain weight and how difficult it is to lose those extra pounds, here we have just a very small selection of ways to lose weight, get in shape and stay that way.

1. Keep Hydrated

Drink plenty of water through the day, this is the absolute No.1 tip for healthy weight loss and getting in shape. Many times when you feel hungry your body is actually mistaking the signs of dehydration for hunger. Be careful of drinks such as coffee which are actually dieuretics, drinks that actually dehydrate you!

2. Eat Breakfast

There is an old adage that goes something like "breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, dinner like a pauper" breakfast is the one single most important meal for weight loss and staying in shape, it kick starts your metabolism and stops your body from entering starvation mode and storing fat.

3. Chew

This may sound simple but so many of us don't actually chew our food properly, chewing helps us release all the goodness from every mouthful as well as having the added benefit of slowing our eating down and making life easier for our digestive systems.

4. Eat only when you are hungry

Again seems obvious but do you really only eat when you are hungry, are you ever actually hungry? many of us eat at pre prescribed times to suit our working day, do you need that snack or that big lunch at 12, perhaps you only need a drink, when you think you are hungry, take a drink and if you are still need to eat then do so

5. Sleep

Does sleep really affect health? You bet it does. During sleep, your body is resting and recovering from all the work is has done throughout the day. Your serotonin levels are brought back in line, your muscles relax, and mind is allowed to clear itself in preparation for the next day. If you are not getting the proper amount of sleep, you will notice it in a physical way. While there is no magic number, usually between six and eight hours a night is appropriate.

6. Nutrition

People often confuse "dieting" with nutrition. Your body needs to have nutrients replaced, whether through foods being eaten or supplements. Do you remember what you learned in elementary school about the four major food groups? As adult, eating balanced meals from these groups still applies. It is important to remove the "junk food" from your diet and stick with healthy foods. If you do not like certain things such as fruits or vegetables, be sure you are taking a supplement to get the nutrients needed. Another consideration is if you are a vegetarian. There are certain benefits taken from meat such as iron and B-12 that you should consider taking a supplement for in exchange for the meat.

7. Fitness & Exercise

Fitness is just as important as health, and in reality, fitness correlates directly with our health. If we are not taking care of our bodies, we get sick. I could write a dozen books on exercise and how to get fit (and indeed i have written some) but the bottom line is... GET MORE ACTIVE, that means different things to different people, for some it will be taking a daily woalk and for others it may require much more effort but without activity your health goals may never be reached.

I hope this article on getting in shape and staying that way helps, its only really just the tip of the iceberg but follow these tips and where they naturally extend to and you will be on the way to a fitter healthier you.
