If you didn't already know your diet makes up big portion of any weight loss program, because if you exercise but eat rubbish well they only thing you will lose is your mind, because you won't be getting results. Now forget about the diet pills, potions, protein powders, replacement bars, shakes and whatever else that can be thrown to you by clever marketers as the answer to your weight loss program. Just focus on eating the right stuff often and you will have a body burning furnace that will torch fat around the clock, and keep your metabolism stoked all the time. You need to focus on eating these foods that provide you a healthy balanced diet. Healthy carbohydrates like wholegrain pasta, rice, bread, fruit and lots and lots of vegetables. Lean proteins like white fish, chicken breasts (no skin of course), turkey, egg whites, and lean cuts of red meat. Heart enhancing healthy fats and omega-3 and omega-6 based oils, such as olive oils, avocados, nuts and seeds.

Whether you're male or female you need to remember to eat at least 5-6 smaller meals per day. For instance have breakfast, lunch and dinner and then have a small snack in between main meals. Make sure meals and snacks are spaced out every 2-3 hours. In terms of portions sizes, you don't need to count calories but try and stick to a portion of healthy carbohydrate the size of your clenched fist, and then a portion of protein the size of your palm. Include at least one small portion of healthy fat (e.g. tablespoon of oil, half avocado, or a handful of nuts) in one of your meals or snacks. Don't forget to drink at least 3 litres of water a day, and I am talking about clear water and if you have to limit your intake to 1 alcohol drink per day, make it wine, however if you're really serious cut it out, you don't need the extra calories.
